Picking out a cool 4 car garage.

Kinja'd!!!

probably not billable.

probably not what I’d pick either, but they were just some cool models that were available.

That doesn’t look great. Also, were white-walls a thing on Cobras?

Out of curiosity, do you like this design more than the original sketch you posted? TBH, this one  seems like a big downgrade to me, though of course tastes vary, I’m not a professional architect, and I know the client has been requesting changes.

Not bad. Needs more dormers.

i liked the original better but the floor plan changed which changed some of the proportions of things. this isnt final. once i get the 4 elevations into th e computer i’ll print them out and sketch over them to tweak everything.

I personally would not mind at all living above my vehicles... my wife on the other hand...   And I wouldn’t mind a 289 Cobra, Audi coupe, Jag and H1 Hummer either.

White lettering I think. But the white walls could be a good look too.

I’d take 3 out of the 4. Somebody else can have the urban assault vehicle.

I'll take the garage, and the section directly above it. The rest can be driveway/yard please

Seems like there’s not a lot of room for maneuvering in the drive outside the garage. Is the property line in the middle of the grass strip between the paved areas?

The only true Urban Assault Vehicle is the EM-50:

L ook, you’re absolutely the professional here . From a guy who when asked to describe his ‘dream home’ couldn’t ? HOLY CRAP THIS IS AWFUL I DO NOT WANT TO LIVE ON THIS STREET.

Okay fine I’m the wizard of garage. There. Happy I admitted it? Also I have some taste. Allegedly.

Anyhow. Unless that’s living area above? Your ceiling is too low. (Also don’t do that if it’s continuous pad. Can’t support lift easily then.)

In order to properly support storage-only lifts you need a minimum of 5' vertical per car to be safe. That’s a 10' ceiling. You also need the pad to support lift + vehicle weight / 2 over 8in^2. (Yes I know there’s lagbolt calcs in there.)

In order to support mechanical work lifts - 2 or 4 post - you need 2 x tallest vehicle supported by weight rating + 12 inches (typically 13-14'.) Optimally if you need workshop space above, go wide rather than tall. Home shop is not going to need more than 2 storage, 2 mechanics bays. So extend the length for front-to-back parking or build your second story over half the spaces (you already should have the pad for it, since we mentioned it before.)

Speaking of can’t describe dream home, uh, what’s your hourly rate to help me with that? Like, seriously.

I have a thoroughly non-billable, practical question that you can feel free to ignore if it’s uninteresting : would it be practical to excavate a large garage into a hillside—say, connected to a home atop the hill via sub-basement— if zoning is cool with subterranean stuff but not with surface coverage? Or is something like that prohibitively expensive?

I sounds expensive. It would be super villi an style cool though

Th at is living space up there. I’m going to have to lower the garage a bit from where it currently sits bit there won’t be any lofts in there.

D ending on who I’m working for my rate can va r y and depending on what you need.  If you really want help give me your email and we can talk that way.

Attach that garage to a two bedroom ranch, put it on a hillside with some land, and I’ll move in yesterday.
